Girl Scouts - Seven Lakes Council, Inc. Girl Scouts is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls -- all girls -- where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives. Qualities like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Our Mission Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Our Structure/Jurisdiction The council has a membership of 9.500 girls, about one out of every seven girls in the jurisdiction, and approximately 2,600 adult members. There are 33 regular employed staff positions. Girl Scouts of the USA charters the Seven Lakes Council to administer the Girl Scout program in 11 counties in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier Regions of New York -- Allegany, Cayuga, Chemung, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Yates and Wayne; and two counties in Pennsylvania -- Bradford and Tioga.
